Had the same skipping problem on notebook.
But when we goto BATTERY power only,
the skipping stopped, Any ideas ?
Also, (with power pluged in) is skipps in some locations,
and not in others? seems like a power issue?
thanks

Hi, I've been doing a lot of research and this unit and software seems to make the most sense for my DJ'ing business.
My main question is do the latest versions of the RMX still have sound-cards?
My main concern is that the unit can do what you mention, cue and hear the song your before play it to the audience.
Im moving up from CD's finally and have a Macbook Pro less than two years old
so I assume it should all work well for me.
On another note it comes with a lite version of Virtual DJ, what the advantages of the full version. Thanks! John

Thanks for the great, detailed review and the follow up afterwards on the Hercules RMX. I was considering the NuMark OmniControl but the Hercules RMX has had better reviews and I like the layout of the controller over NuMarks. I look forward to purchasing the Hercules RMX and plan to use it with my Mac. I've been DJing for over 12 years and I'm slowing moving to all digital. Currently use iPods along with my table-top CD players but looking to consolidate.

Keep up the good work and hope you review more DJ gear. Thanks.

Nice review of the hercules dj console mainly based on your review and some other reviews online i bought one. Being the bedroomdj i am I must say its a sweet thing to use *proper* hardware instead of just software. About the skipping i havent noticed any on my dj console so far.

Hey, great review. I have one question though. How is the scratching on the system? I am by no means a professional but is it workable? Is there a delay after you let go of the jog wheel? Thanks

I was a little skeptical about purchasing the Hurcules RMX, but after reading your review I was pretty much sold. I was actually looking at getting the Vastex VCI-100... Anyway, now that it's been a while since you wrote your review and now that you've had time to really put the RMX console to use, are there any other cons for the RMX? The only reason I'm asking is because I too like to get more bang for my buck. Let me know your thoughts.

yes- you can use the two phono inputs for vinyl control like in Serato, although I haven't tested this. I've been using the phono ins just for recording some of my vinyls to MP3, and it works great. I think the ability to use time-coded control vinyls depends on the software you're using - I'm not sure if VirtualDJ allows this but I'm pretty sure Traktor does. but the two phono inputs definitely provide this opportunity if your software allows it.

yes- it has a built in soundcard but there are some stability issues (at least for me). i think they have also recently released a controller-only version which doesn't have the built in sound card, so make sure you check. the original RMX DOES have a soundcard though.

Nice review!!! was wondering if you could answer this question for me that i cant seem to find anywhere. I just got the rmx console as a gift the other day and im thinking about returning it.....Can i use this interface the same as lets say serato?? meaning if i hook up my two turntables to the input/output's will the virtual dj software recognize it and allow me to scratch/mix similar to serato? or are the input/output's just strictly used for external add on's? hope you can help thanks!!
