Had the same skipping problem on notebook.
But when we goto BATTERY power only,
the skipping stopped, Any ideas ?
Also, (with power pluged in) is skipps in some locations,
and not in others? seems like a power issue?
thanks

Hi, I've been doing a lot of research and this unit and software seems to make the most sense for my DJ'ing business.
My main question is do the latest versions of the RMX still have sound-cards?
My main concern is that the unit can do what you mention, cue and hear the song your before play it to the audience.
Im moving up from CD's finally and have a Macbook Pro less than two years old
so I assume it should all work well for me.
On another note it comes with a lite version of Virtual DJ, what the advantages of the full version. Thanks! John

Thanks for the great, detailed review and the follow up afterwards on the Hercules RMX. I was considering the NuMark OmniControl but the Hercules RMX has had better reviews and I like the layout of the controller over NuMarks. I look forward to purchasing the Hercules RMX and plan to use it with my Mac. I've been DJing for over 12 years and I'm slowing moving to all digital. Currently use iPods along with my table-top CD players but looking to consolidate.

Keep up the good work and hope you review more DJ gear. Thanks.

Nice review of the hercules dj console mainly based on your review and some other reviews online i bought one. Being the bedroomdj i am I must say its a sweet thing to use *proper* hardware instead of just software. About the skipping i havent noticed any on my dj console so far.

Hey, great review. I have one question though. How is the scratching on the system? I am by no means a professional but is it workable? Is there a delay after you let go of the jog wheel? Thanks

Hi all. First of all, thanks jreed6 for the article, made me buy the RMX. I am currently mapping it with Ableton Live and ran into problems with the buttons. For instance the kill switches. Mapped them to the respective controls in EQ3, but what happens is this. When I hold the button down, then the control on EQ3 is ON. When I release the button, then the control is OFF. Same goes for the Loop Switch: Hold button -> Loop on. Release button -> Loop off.

Did anyone have this problem, too? What is the root of it? How can I resolve it?

I was a little skeptical about purchasing the Hurcules RMX, but after reading your review I was pretty much sold. I was actually looking at getting the Vastex VCI-100... Anyway, now that it's been a while since you wrote your review and now that you've had time to really put the RMX console to use, are there any other cons for the RMX? The only reason I'm asking is because I too like to get more bang for my buck. Let me know your thoughts.

Virtual DJ 6.0.1 is now available to Pro users. There's some sweet new features like Netsearch and built-in controller recognition. Might be worth checking out if you're using RMX as I have found it to work well from initial tests.
